Afternoon Inspiration

"My Lord God, I have no idea where I am going. I do not see the road ahead of me. I cannot know for certain where it will end. Nor do I really know myself, and the fact that I think I am following Your will does not mean that I am actually doing so. But I believe that the desire to please You does in fact please you. And I hope I have that desire in all that I am doing. I hope that I will never do anything apart from that desire. And I know that if I do this You will lead me by the right road, though I may know nothing about it. Therefore I will trust You always though I may seem to be lost and in the shadow of death. I will not fear, for You are ever with me, and You will never leave me to face my perils alone."

Yours Lord

I just finished writing this new worship song from the piano.

I decided to write from the piano because.. well I'm home in Ohio right now and I did not bring my guitar with me. Plus, the piano always brings out a different style than writing with the guitar does.

So, well here you go.

Please, let me know what you think.

We come with purpose and expectant hearts

Gathered in Your name to lift up all You are

Jesus, Savior

Lover of my soul I bring You all I am

Maker of the heavens by Your power we stand

Holy, Father

Hear the praise on our lips

Glory and honor is Yours Lord, Yours Lord

Wisdom and mercy cover all that You do

And we sing of all the hope we've found, in You

And all Your faithfulness resounds forever

Author of our faith it's by Your grace we come

To worship at Your feet for all that You have done

Life sustainer

Light of all the world You restore heart and mind

Took us out of darkness we're no longer blind

Now we can see

You have made a way for us

Your'e Glorious, Jesus Christ victorious

Redeeming all brokenness

Compassionate Lord

You satisfy every need

And hear our cry for the truth

I know that I find myself in You

You Jesus Your'e the One who frees us

Give us strength so we can trust

You are always here

Relentlessly pursuing our everything

For the glory of the King

So we sing to You

Jesus

"Surrendering"

A new worship song I finished today..

I hope to do it for something sometime soon.. who knows

Break our hearts for what breaks Yours oh God

We are seeking everything You are

Name above all names Yours is revered

It's by Your mercy we are drawing near

Move within our lives oh God we pray

Show Your power Lord come captivate

On this earth oh may Your kingdom come

Giving up our will Lord Yours be done

Would You embrace the praise we bring

Oh and take Your place as king

For Your glory Lord we sing

Father here we are surrendering

Take our hearts and make them clean

We give our lives so You'd be seen

Here we are an offering

Come have Your way inside of us

Everything we are we lay down

At Your feet for You to use

Here we are longing for more of You

It is You we all love

It is You we adore

So we sing to You Lord

For You are our God

And we are Your people

Living to give You praise

Here's a video of me singing one of my originals at Camp Adventure.

Like I say in the video, this song serves as an expression of me, in every way, giving all of myself to my King. For all that He is and has done, all of me, all of me, all of me, I give You all of me.

The Morning Inspiration

So this morning some friends and I went and ate breakfast at Uptown Kitchen.
I love uptown kitchen! The food there is great! The service is always really good, and I just really like the feel of the inside of the building. It's relaxing to me.
But I'm writing this to tell you specifically about the waitress we had.
Our waitress was awesome!
She told us about how the first date that her and her husband had was at GCC.
They were just looking for something to do on a saturday night and decided to go to church at Granger. She told me they've not stopped coming since then. And that they have invited 9 other people who all now come with them, some of which she said she never expected would even come to church.

To me this woman was inspirational. She was a real encouragement.
It's so incredible to hear about others in the church and how they've come about being a part of GCC. It's truly remarkable to me to hear how they shine the light and love of Christ.

What a privilege it is to be able to serve along side others who have been impacted by what's going on at GCC and who can't contain the love of Christ within themselves and so they have to tell others about Him. It's an honor to be apart of a church with people who understand that Jesus Christ came for the sick and the hurting (Mark 2:17), and that He sends us into the world to bring light to the darkness.
"Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." - Matthew 28:18-20

Father bless them for their faithfulness and devotion. Take them deeper within Yourself. By Your mercy draw them closer to Your heart.

Holy Ground

This is a picture during a show I played a month or 2 ago.
It reminds me of what often happens at camp Adventure. When we are in His presence we experience Him; and because of this experience, what happens is that our eyes are better opened to His greatness, His goodness, our need for Him, along with many other possible things. Our gaze is raised to see Him in His glorious splendor. We gain sight into greater depths of His nature. And because of this we can't help but bow in the presence of the King. We are changed in His presence.

For me, sometimes when I worship I walk away from the corporate experience with such a greater picture of the greatness of our God that I have to detach myself from the others that I was just with and find somewhere to fall on my face and personally worship because I'm standing on holy ground and God has moved mightily inside me.

Riley took off his shoes to play the drums in this picture, (you may have to click on it to enlarge and see) and to me it's a picture of what often happens during worship at camp and the worship that took place when Moses took His shoes off too on Mt. Horeb with God and the burning bush.

It's what I'm praying for to happen again, that lives are never again the same and continually growing and moving and falling deeper in love with Jesus because we got to intensely hang out with Him for a week.
Would you join with me in praying for next week?
Would you pray for us during days of July 6th -11th.

"Now Moses was tending the flock of Jethro his father-in-law, the priest of Midian, and he led the flock to the far side of the desert and came to Horeb, the mountain of God. There the angel of the LORD appeared to him in flames of fire from within a bush. Moses saw that though the bush was on fire it did not burn up. So Moses thought, "I will go over and see this strange sight—why the bush does not burn up."When the LORD saw that he had gone over to look, God called to him from within the bush, "Moses! Moses!" And Moses said, "Here I am." "Do not come any closer," God said. "Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground." Then he said, "I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob." At this, Moses hid his face, because he was afraid to look at God." - Exodus 3:1

New Books I'm Reading

Freedom of Simplicity - Richard Foster - a book with power that if put into practice will wreck your life.

Walking With God - John Eldredge - a book on talking to God and actually hearing from Him.

The Way of the Heart - Henri Nouwen - this is my 4th time through it! one of my favorites.

Religion Saves: & Nine other Misconceptions - Mark Driscoll - just picked this up today, looked interesting.

Addiction & Grace - Gerald May - haven't started reading it yet, but i was drawn to it because of the author. While still living, he was a psychiatrist and spiritual counselor and Senior Fellow in Contemplative Theology and Psychology at the Shalem Institute for Spiritual Formation.
